Well, my personality type is supposedly Independent Thinker, but it doesn't seem to say what my "four-letter" personality type is.

It says:

"Independent, original, analytical and determined. Have an exceptional ability to turn theories into solid plans of action. Highly value knowledge, competence and structure. Driven to derive meaning from their visions. Long-range thinkers. Have very high standards for their performance and the performance of others. Natural leaders, but will follow if they trust existing leaders."

This is very much like me, I must agree.

The letters actually come from the continuum bars underneath the description you got. You should see 4 bars that are marked with Extroverted (E) – Introverted (I), Sensing (S) – Intuitive (N), Thinking (T) – Feeling (F), and Judging (J) – Perceiving (P).

The red mark on the line indicates your own personal position on the scale. Whichever end of the bar the red line is closest to is the letter you need to use for the other descriptions.

I hope that helps.

Ah!

Now I see!

Well, then I am INTJ.
I just wasn't sure about the letters, since I am not used to just saying I am Judging when the red bar was about in the middle (which it was).

I very much like my personality. :)

ENFP.

I've tried to game the questionnaire. Taken it at various points in my life. Taken it years apart. Doesn't make a difference. Every single time I'm ENFP.

Geoff, what kind of difference did it make for you knowing this?  Did it change or help you understand the way you work with or relate to others at all?

Same as me.

Did this test years ago.

As far as the effect it had on me… Learning this information back then (and looking back at it now) was kind of like being lost in the desert and searching for water but finding Tequilla. It got me toasted for a while and helped me get numb but the thirst was by no means quenched. Actually got worse.

Finding this forum has been like passing out and waking up at the Fuji Water bottling plant.

Which… btw, on a downer note, is aperantly being shut down.

I'm INFJ.  I've known this for a couple years and it's based on several tests and a lot of personal research into the role of the cognitive functions.   It was really interesting at first to know this about myself, but also disconcerting as it became apparent that it wouldn't be easy to find like minded others in the general population.  It's usually said that INFJ is the rarest type and that they compose about 1% of the population, although many people dispute that and feel that INFJ is not as rare as it is purported to be.   I participated in an INFJ forum for awhile, finding it odd but sort of soothing to see that other humans act like me (I'm not an alien, Yay!).  But it soon became rather boring.  Kind of like talking to yourself all the time.

I became aware that it was the more intellectually gifted ones who were more stimulating to talk with because we could converse on similar levels.  Actually, some of them were so intelligent that I felt at times in over my head.  They were mostly NTs, but there was one INFJ who was like that.

I’m *NTP, either introvert or extrovert depending on the questions asked and how I feel when I’m answering. Been getting the same results (back and forth) since junior high school.
